Architectural CAD Technology
The AAS program in Architectural CAD Technology provides students with the background, knowledge, and skills required to begin a career in architectural CAD design and drafting. Emphasis is on the development of studio and computer skills, critical thinking and problem solving skills, knowledge of building materials, construction methods and costs, and portfolio development. Students develop the flexibility to adapt to changing technology which affects the architecture, engineering and construction industries.
Program graduates are prepared for entry level careers as architectural CAD technicians and drafters with architecture and engineering firms, residential and commercial builders, construction companies, municipal planning offices, and structural steel detailing firms.
Students planning to transfer to a university to pursue a bachelors degree in Architecture should contact the Advisement Center for specific information on transfer requirements.
The CAD-BIM Technology program is designed to develop two- and three-dimensional CAD skills along with competence in CAD customization and management and Building Information Modeling (BIM). Completion of the certificate prepares students for entry level positions as CAD or BIM drafters, technicians and managers and offers career advancement opportunities for persons currently employed in design/drafting positions.
