    Jacobs Engineering completed its acquisition of Carter & Burgess in July of 2008. Assessed and surveyed existing storefront facilities in New Mexico for CVS/Pharmacy. Trained a junior colleague to continue the effort. Architectural Job Captain for several retail roll out programs. The City of Phoenix Workforce Department, Community and Economic Development Department and the American Institute of Architects Metro Phoenix Chapter organized the program for AIA members in the City of Phoenix. I assisted in making the connections between the City of Phoenix and the AIA through my role as Phoenix Section Programs Chair for the AIA.

    The School of Architecture at Washington University in St. Louis is a pioneer in the 4+2 NAAB Accredited Profession Degree programs. The Undergraduate degree was offered as a Bachelor’s of Arts, Major in Architecture in 1996. Now under the larger Sam Fox School of Art and Design, the School offers a Bachelor’s of Science. The school has always been regarded among the best programs in the country, attracting students and faculty from around the globe to study architecture in the context of St. Louis and the American Midwest.

    Studio work involved interventions to revitalize city neighborhoods with community centers and attractions. Most projects were within the city of St. Louis, but a few were at significant landmarks in the urban region. Each project involved sustainability and urban renewal.

    A key benefit of the Washington University program is its focus on Interdisciplinary studies. My course work focused on developing artistic skills, an interest in Architectural History, Archeology and Cultural Anthropology.

The School of Architecture, as a part of the CFA, offers classes for students to explore architecture and to be recruited to Carnegie Mellon University.

    Course work included drawing on site, small projects, an introduction to CAD, architectural history and structures. Tours of local offices and notable architecture was also key to the program.
