Texas Project List.

Peter Michael Newton, Associate AIA
Architectural Intern

As an Architectural Intern, I am responsible for document preparation in assurance with the client’s assigned goals, budgets and time schedules. I have over 2 1/2 years of professional experience in all phases of architecture. My portfolio includes corporate, institutional, education, religious, medical, recreation, retail and residential clients. I have extensive experience with AutoCAD 14, Adobe Photoshop 5.5, Adobe Pagemaker 6.5+, Corel Draw 8, Quark and Microsoft Word.

I was accepted to the Carnegie Mellon University Pre-College Summer Program, completing a six week curriculum in Pre-Architecture. I obtained a four year undergraduate Bachelor’s of Arts degree, major in Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. This degree is the first part of a 4+2 NAAB Accredited Master of Architecture Degree program. I intend to return to Graduate School to complete my education, however, I am continuing my education through the Continuing Education Program of the American Institute of Architects.

I am the graphic designer of the Chapter Bulletin and Chapter Meeting Notice and am a member of the Web Site Committee for AIA New Orleans .

Prior to joining Olde New Orleans Design Group, Inc., I was employed as an Architectural Intern for two years with Christner, Inc. of Clayton, Missouri. I was responsible for the development of 3-D CAD models, colored pencil renderings, As-Built documents, space assignment assessment, construction documents, and contract administration. I have organized a continuing education program for my co-workers that included: a design retreat, a video luncheon program, discussions about the future of St. Louis with local leaders, maintaining the design library, maintaining the materials library, and lectures of lessons learned in other cities. I have organized neighborhood tours, neighborhood charettes, and helped promote AIA St. Louis. I participated in several Downtown Now! planning sessions, St. Louis 2004 envisions workshops, designed a neighborhood Bike Lane and renovated a house in Old North St. Louis for Metropolis St. Louis.

Prior to joining Christner, Inc., Peter was a Summer Intern with Franklin Associates, Architects, Inc. in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Washington University in St. Louis School of Architecture Wood Shop and with Adrian Luchini and DAS 20 in St. Louis.

Tighter Houston Resume

I have organized neighborhood tours, neighborhood charetts, and helped promote AIA St.

Louis..

Houston resume

Peter Michael Newton, Associate AIA
Architectural Intern

As an Architectural Intern, I am responsible for document preparation in assurance with the client’s assigned goals, budgets and time schedules. I have over 6 years of professional experience in all phases of architecture. My portfolio includes corporate, institutional, educational, religious, medical, recreational, retail and residential markets. I have extensive experience with AutoCAD 2000, Adobe Photoshop 5.5, Adobe Pagemaker 6.5+, Corel Draw 8, Quark and Microsoft Office. I have recently completed the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards Intern Development Program.

I was most recently employed by Watkins Hamilton Ross Architects in Houston, Texas. I was responsible for the maintenance of Contract Administration logs, the FTP site, and meeting the CAD standards of clients. I also made visits to job sites and developed Contract Documents.

Prior to joining WHR, I was employed as an Architectural Intern for one and a half years with The Mathes Group and for six months with Olde New Orleans Design Group, both of New Orleans, Louisiana. I was responsible for the development of space plans and contracts for Bellsouth Telephone Collocation clients at TMG, and for the development of construction documents for design/built housing and the detail library. At both offices, I was involved in the development of new marketing material. Previously, I was employed for two years with Christner, Inc. of Clayton, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis. I was responsible for the development of 3-D CAD models, colored pencil renderings, verifying existing conditions, construction documents and continuing education opportunities.

I have been a participant in the IDP Committee and the Committee on the Environment at AIA Houston. I developed a successful construction seminar and tour series, spoken about IDP to fellow interns and students, and developed a semi-annual community service activity. I am currently working with the COTE to design a series of energy efficient prototype homes for elderly clients of Habitat for Humanity. I researched and issued invitations to speakers for the LEED Houston Series. I have served as a docent for both AIA Houston and Rice Design Alliance home tours, and as a team member at both RDA Charette.

While living in New Orleans, I was elected Associate Director of AIA New Orleans. As Associate Director, I developed a series of programs to help Interns through IDP, and represented their interests to the AIA New Orleans Board of Directors and AIA Louisiana. I also designed many of the Chapter’s Meeting Notices, monthly Newsletters, CANstruction publications and the registration form for On the Ledge, Intern Interactive 1999 AIA Louisiana Design Conference. Previously, I organized neighborhood tours, a downtown Charette, participated in Downtown Now! and St. Louis 2004 workshops with AIA St. Louis, and designed a neighborhood Bike Lane and renovated a house in Old North St. Louis for Metropolis St. Louis.

I graduated with a 4-year pre-professional undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Architecture, from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. This degree is the first part of a 4+2 NAAB Accredited Master of Architecture Degree. I am working on my Portfolio to return to Graduate School to complete my education. Currently, I am continuing my education through the Continuing Education programs offered by the American Institute of Architects. While I was a student, I was a Summer Intern with Franklin Associates, Architects, Inc. in Chattanooga, Tennessee, a Shop Monitor in the Wood Shop at the School of Architecture, a drafts person for Adrian Luchini and an editor for DAS 20.
